How the team is run

  • The family controls through the managing-partner role, not a majority stake. R.C. Buford is chief executive of Spurs Sports & Entertainment, which runs the team.
  • The Frost Bank Center lease runs to September 2032. A new downtown arena costing about $1.3B is targeted for 2032.
  • The city would pay $489M, Bexar County up to $311M, and the Spurs at least $500M plus all overruns.
  • County voters approved the funding on 4 November 2025, by 52.14% to 47.86%. The Spurs agreed not to relocate through 2062.
  • In June 2026 the city aimed to finish the binding arena documents by the end of December 2026. No signing was found by 28 October 2026.
