How the current owner bought it
- A binding agreement with seller Mark Cuban was announced on 29 November 2023.
- Miriam Adelson and the family trust told the SEC they would sell $2B of Las Vegas Sands stock to pay.
- The buyers hold an option to take 20 more percentage points from Cuban by December 2027. That would cut him to 7%.
- In October 2026 Dumont told The Athletic the group would look to buy those points over time, World Casino News reported.
- In February 2026 a family spokesperson said the team is not for sale and the families hope to enlarge their stake.

How the team is run
- Dumont approved the trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2025. He fired general manager Nico Harrison on 11 November 2025.
- Masai Ujiri became president and alternate governor on 4 May 2026, in charge of all basketball operations.
- The lease at American Airlines Center ends in 2031. The Mavericks sued co-tenant Dallas Stars over the arena in October 2025. A Texas judge ruled for them in May 2026, CBS News Texas reported.
- On 1 June 2026 the club announced options on about 104 acres at the former Valley View Mall in North Dallas. An arena district there is targeted to open by the end of 2031. The team filed to rezone the site in September 2026; the land purchase can close by 31 January 2028, D Magazine reported. In October 2026 Dumont said the arena will go ahead separately from any casino resort, as the site cannot fit both.
- Cuban filed a court petition on 8 July 2026 seeking arena records and alleging he was shut out, the AP reported. His lawyers withdrew it in August 2026, keeping the right to refile, and the judge dismissed the matter, Sportcal reported.
